Keep on recycling!

Wednesday 30th May 2007 (ref: 156/2007)

Wigan Council’s busy household waste recycling centre on Frog Lane in Wigan will remain open during upcoming roadworks.

Access to the site will be restricted to traffic coming from the Wigan side on Sunday 3rd June and again on Sunday 10th June, when Frog Lane, between Gidlow Lane and Diggle Street, closes for essential highways maintenance.

Highways bosses are asking locals, as well those wanting access to the recycling centre, for their patience, as there are likely to be delays on both days. A diversion route will be clearly signed in the area.

The Frog Lane recycling centre is open at weekends until half past four (5pm Mondays to Thursdays; 4.45pm on Fridays), for residents to recycle paper, cardboard, books, directories, glass bottles and jars, textiles and shoes, cans and foil, metals, engine oil, car batteries, bricks, timber, garden waste, soil and rubble.

During the roadworks, council recycling officers advise residents to use the Kirkless site on Makerfield Way in Higher Ince instead.
