Summer’s here and the time is right for dancing in the street.

And that’s exactly what they’ll be doing in Tyldesley month when that carnival atmosphere hits the town centre for two days of fun.

On Thursday and Friday August 6 and 7, Market Square will be alive with the sound music as the town’s first ever festival gets under way.

Running between 11am and 4pm on each day, the event will see a host of acts and attractions that promise something for everyone.

On Thursday August 6 special guest DJ Darren Proctor from Key 103 will be kicking off the celebrations in style at noon.

And there will be donkey rides, ice-cream, Punch and Judy, face-painting and a summer spectacular scene complete with sand pits.

On Friday there will be carousel rides, a Children’s Circus workshop, music from the Banjo Man and more donkey rides.

The best thing about it all is that all the activities are free! Even the ice-cream!

The event was the brainchild of local ward councillors working with the Tyldesley Town Centre Management Team.

The programme of events has been put together by the management team and it has been funded through the councillors’ Brighter Borough funding.

Speaking on behalf of the ward members, Cllr Robert Bleakley says:

“It’s a very exciting event for us because it is the first time anything like this has come to Tyldesley.

“We wanted it to be a true celebration of the community and our town and we also want to use the event to bring more people into the centre to support the town centre and to show what Tyldesley has to offer.”

Cllr Bleakley adds:

“All we need now is plenty of people to help us celebrate so our message is come on down! It’s going to be a great time for everyone!”
