How much do you know about Wigan’s twin town of Angers?
It’s 20 years since our borough was twinned with the beautiful and historic French city and to celebrate we’re asking people to take part in our very own town centre treasure hunt.
Wigan Council and the Angers Twinning Association have organised a 20 question quiz. The answers to the questions can be found in the windows of 20 town centre shops.
The quiz is free and you can get the questions from the following places:
- Your local library
- The History Shop on Library Street
- The Tourist Information Centre, Wallgate
- The customer service desk at The Grand Arcade
And there are some top prizes to be won thanks to sponsorship from town centre businesses. They include at meal for four at Gallimores, £50 in cash courtesy of JM Richard Shoe Repairs and vouchers for Da Vinci hairdressers.
Wigan’s Ambassadress from Angers Céline Réveillard, says: “The town centre treasure hunt is one of the many events we are organising to celebrate the anniversary.
“Throughout the last 20 years, the twinning between the two towns has gone from strength-to-strength, with many organisations in the borough benefiting from the scheme.
“We’d like to thank the businesses who are taking part in the treasure hunt and especially those who have kindly donated prizes.”
