Don’t miss the deadline for housing comments

Thursday 31st January 2008 (ref: 28/2008)

Many households across Wigan and Leigh will have received a Housing Needs Survey through the post by now and Wigan Council would like to remind residents to send their completed questionnaires back by Wednesday February 6.

The survey was sent out to 16,000 randomly selected households across the borough. The survey is designed to allow Wigan Council to assess housing needs throughout the borough in order to develop a comprehensive picture of both the current and future housing needs.

The results from the survey will be used to develop housing and planning policies across the borough. The survey is totally anonymous. Whilst forms are coded, this is only to identify the areas people are responding from so that housing needs are recognised at a local level.

Wigan Council is urging residents who have received a survey to respond. Martin Kimber, Wigan Council’s Director of Environmental Services, said:

“We are urging every household that receives a survey form to fill it in and return it in the freepost envelope provided. It may only take a few minutes but it could be really influential in terms of housing strategies for the borough.”

  • The survey is being carried our on behalf of the council by David Couttie Associates (DCA).
  • Anyone who would like help completing the form or who would like more information can call the research team on freephone 0800 169 7865 or the Council’s Housing Strategy Team on 01942 828952.
  • The results will be available next spring through the council’s website.
