Stub it out: Wigan prepares to go smoke free

The Smoke Free Wigan campaign is being launched this Friday, 19th January, at 11.30am in the Atrium, Wigan Town Hall, Library Street.

Across the country from July 1st this year smoking will be banned from all enclosed public places such as pubs, clubs, restaurants, cafes, shops, workplaces and taxis.

Those that wish to smoke in a public place or workplace can still continue to do so but from July 1st they will have to do it outside.

Wigan Council is working hard to help the business community go smoke-free on July 1st and ensure they know what they have to do to prepare for the new laws.

The launch will be attended by the mayor, representatives from Wigan Council, the NHS and local business people who are already working to make their premises smoke free.
