Wigan Council is making a stand for bikers!
In fact it’s just created a whole load of them in Wigan and Leigh town centres, which should make getting into town a lot easier for our borough’s easy riders.
The new bays give motorcyclists a safe, secure place to park with heavy duty chain locks and a secure window to put your pay and display ticket.
The new bays have been conveniently placed in Harrogate Street and Mona Street car parks.
In Leigh, two new bays have recently been put up at the Spinning Gate car park and there is also new signs directing bikers to at least five spaces inside Bengal Street multi-storey car park.
The new Wigan bays are in addition to existing ones at New Market Street.
Parking Services staff say they have been approached by bikers looking for places to park in the past and the new bays have been provided to meet this demand.
Wigan Council’s parking services manager Charles Wright says:
“We have listened to motorcyclists and responded to their requests by putting up these new posts.
Through sighting these motorcycle bays at these location in Wigan and Leigh it is hoped that riders entering the town centres from several locations will be able to find a secure place to park.”
