Community groups, visual artists and performers are being sought for Wigan Borough’s premier showcase event for local creative performers and artist, ‘Arts For All’.
The festival will return to the beautiful surroundings of Haigh Hall on Sunday 22nd July and Wigan Leisure and Culture Trust is urging anybody interested in taking part to make contact as soon as possible to express their interest.
Previous Arts For All events have seen visitors experience a vibrant and diverse mix of arts activities in the grounds of Haigh Hall and Country Park.
Arts For All is a free family day that celebrates art through interactive visual activities, exhibitions, craft demonstrations and live performances. There will be opportunities to celebrate what has been achieved in the community, and a chance to discuss and meet artists, partners and participants who have been involved in new and exciting arts based projects during the year.
Martin Green, Development Officer for Wigan Leisure and Culture, said,
“We are really looking forward to this year’s festival. It is great fun to be involved in or to witness. The programme for the day is not fully confirmed so there is still chance to get involved.
Martin continued,
“The likes of Wigan Pier Theatre Company, the Jill Fielding Band and Street Dance Zone will all be there on the day. It will also include the work of local visual artists such as Karen Buckels, resident artist at Haigh Hall, and Elizabeth Smith whose successful textile project was on show last year”.
The deadline for taking part is Friday 9th March 2007. This will enable the programme to be drawn up and marketing to be put in place to promote the work of the creative talents of the borough.
Arts For All begins at noon and ends at 5pm on Sunday 22nd July. If you would like to get involved – either showing off your work or volunteering as a steward in the grounds, please contact Martin Green on 01942 709305 to request a form or email mpj.green@wlct.org.
Arts For All is supported by AGMA and the Arts Council North West through the Strategic Arts Fund.
