A Hindley butchers and an amusement arcade in Ashton have won the prize for having the ‘best dressed window’ in their towns.

Allister’s Butchers in Market Street, Hindley and Goldrush Amusements, in Ashton’s Gerard Centre, were taking part in a seasonal town centre competition organised by Wigan Council, local councillors and traders.

The idea was to bring some festive cheer to the town centres and tempt residents to shop locally.

Town centre co-ordinator Emma Taylor said: “The displays really brightened up Hindley and Ashton and I’d like to say a big thank you to all the businesses who took part.”

Goldrush won a meal for two courtesy of the Cellar Restaurant while Allisters received a trophy and certificate.
