Your Christmas/New Year bin collection date is:

Tuesday

Tuesday January 2

Wednesday

Wednesday January 3

There are also changes to the fortnightly recycling service. Residents are receiving information at home with their holiday collection dates. Those properties involved in the garden and brown cardboard collection services will also see collections change over the holidays. Normal dates resume in the New Year.

Council waste management boss Dr Gary Taylor says:

“We’d like to thank everyone in the borough for another successful year as we improve our recycling efforts. Please keep doing your bit and make a resolution for 2007 to be a green new year for us all.”

This year saw another 40,000 properties added to the garden waste collection rounds and many more local sites for residents to recycle cans and bottles.

Dr Taylor adds:

“We hope everyone has a good Christmas and takes their festive recycling to the roadside collection points. There are more than 120 sites outside pubs, supermarkets and libraries. You can also recycle your greetings cards at Tesco, WH Smith and in the cardboard containers at our sites at Kirkless in Ince, Slag Lane in Leigh, Frog Lane in Wigan and Chanters in Atherton.”

Any changes to the revised collection timetable because of bad weather will be reported on the council’s website or on the Streetcare Helpline service on 01942 404364.
