Wigan Council are collecting refuse and recycling on Bank Holiday Mondays. This means that all collections for next week are on the normal day, and not a day later anymore.
The next Bank Holiday is August 31 and the crews will collect Monday’s black bins that day, as well as recycling for any properties whose fortnightly cycle falls on the Monday. People who normally have a Tuesday collection will continue to have a Tuesday service that week, and so on. Bins and bags should be out at 7am at the edge of your property.
This extended service was launched after Easter, and the Bank Holidays in spring saw messages online, in leaflets and in the press. The vehicles themselves are displaying large banners and messages on the crews’ high viz jackets remind people “Bank Holiday? Bring out your bin on your normal collection day.”
Residents can expect new calendars later in the year detailing the service over the festive period and into 2010.
