Wigan Council is reminding all householders that it is now collecting rubbish and recycling on bank holidays.
This means that during the two bank holiday weeks in May, householders whose regular collection day is a Monday should put their bin out as usual rather than on the following day. And throughout the week, everyone’s collection day remains the same as usual, not a day later.
Cabinet member for the environment Cllr David Molyneux said:
“We’re keen to remind everyone that bank holidays are now no different from any other week when it comes to bin collection.
“I think over Easter that message didn’t get out to everyone and because people were so used to things being a day later that many bins got missed.
“We have now taken steps to ensure that the message goes out much wider for week beginning May 4th and the bank holiday week at the end of May.”
Householders are asked to put their bins and sacks out by 7am on their normal collection day.
