Sport in Leigh enters a new era this week with the news that the artificial pitches at Leigh Sports Village are now open for public booking.
These state of the art outdoor surfaces are ideal for multi-activity use. The so-called third generation (3G) rubber crumb artificial turf uses the latest available technology in artificial grass, which mimics the performance and characteristics of natural grass as closely as possible.
The playing areas available for hire are all floodlit and include a full size rugby pitch, and other playing areas which suit 5, 6, 7 and 9 a-side football games. Excellent changing facilities are also available to use.
Leigh Sports Village Company’s chief executive, Simon Toon, said:
“The 3G pitches at Leigh Sports Village provide the perfect setting for people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities to get together with friends, family or team mates and take part in sport and physical activity.”
The Leigh East Pavilion and pitches are located down Ledgard Avenue at Leigh Sports Village. Opening times are 9am-10pm, Monday to Friday and 9am-6pm Saturday and Sunday.
