The borough's road safety forum are staging another 'fake vehicle crash' in Leigh. This free event is always very well attended and allows the public to see at first hand the consequences of drink driving as a simulated road traffic accident is re-enacted by the emergency services.
Students, made up as victims, will be cut from the wreckage of smashed cars by fire officers and attended to by members of the ambulance services and the police. The events unfold in real time with a full commentary by a road safety expert.
The event, on the Civic Square, is expected to last around 30-45 minutes, with information available from the council's road safety team as the Christmas anti drink-drive message is launched.
- Look out for a truck with a smashed car on its back driving around the borough next week bearing the message 'Drink driving wrecks lives', and other events in the lead up to the party season.
