Wigan Borough Partnership has been asking local people – parents, relatives, friends and neighbours of babies born in 2008 – what kind of world they want for those young ones when they turn 18 in 2026.

Their views are reflected in the borough’s new community strategy, which sets out a long term vision for the economic, social and environmental well-being of the borough. The strategy also highlights some of the key issues that need to be addressed in the shorter term.

Be a good neighbour this Christmas urges Mayor

The season of goodwill to all is upon us and Mayor of Wigan Cllr Rona Winkworth is urging residents of the borough to spare a thought for others during the festive celebrations. In wishing everyone in Wigan Borough a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, Cllr Winkworth asks people to keep a caring eye open for vulnerable people in their community.

 

Face – The future

There’s a new face in Wigan…in fact it is the Face of Wigan - an exciting new piece of public art that’s taken pride of place in the town centre. The Face of Wigan is a dramatic 5.5m high stainless steel sculpture of a face that could very well become another iconic image of the borough.
